Subject: My Response to the Performance Improvement Plan
Hi Karen,
Thank you for taking the time to put together the PIP and for the conversation we had. I want to engage with this seriously, and I've spent time this week thinking through the feedback.
On response time: I accept this feedback. Looking back, there were several instances where I was slower than I should have been, particularly during the week I was covering two roles. That's not an excuse — it's context I should have communicated proactively. Going forward, I'm committing to a same-business-day response policy for anything stakeholder-facing, and I'll let you know immediately if I'm at risk of missing that.
On stakeholder communication: I agree with parts of this feedback and want to understand more about others. The Q3 project is mentioned specifically — I want to revisit that together, because I believe there are some nuances to that situation that aren't reflected in the current framing.
Here's what I'm committing to over the next 30 days: weekly status summaries to key stakeholders on active projects, proactive escalation when timelines shift, and a daily end-of-day note to you on anything in-flight.
What would help me most is clarity on what success looks like — specifically, what would I need to demonstrate for you to feel confident this has been resolved?
I want to address this well. I appreciate your investment in working through it together.
Best,
